One starry night, little Kirkie was looking out his window when something amazing happened. The moon, big and round in the sky, started to sparkle and twinkle in a special way. Then, to Kirkie's surprise, it spoke! 'Kirkie,' the moon called softly.
'Hello, Moon!' Kirkie answered, his brown eyes wide with wonder. The moon's voice was gentle and kind. 'I need your help, Kirkie. My special glow has gone missing, and the night sky isn't as bright without it.'
The moon explained that the Shadow Monster had taken its glow. 'The Shadow Monster likes to keep all the light for himself,' said the moon. 'But the stars and the Earth need my light to shine at night.'
Kirkie wasn't scared. He wanted to help his new friend, the moon. 'How can I help?' he asked bravely. The moon smiled down at him. 'You need to find the Shadow Monster's cave and ask for my glow back.'
Suddenly, a magical moonbeam made a silver path right from Kirkie's window into the sky. Kirkie stepped onto it, and whoosh! He floated up, up, up toward the stars. What an adventure!
The Shadow Monster's cave was behind a dark cloud. When Kirkie arrived, he heard grumbling inside. There sat the Shadow Monster, surrounded by stolen bits of light. 'Who's there?' it growled.
'I'm Kirkie,' he said to the Shadow Monster. 'The moon needs its glow back. Without it, the night is too dark for everyone.' The Shadow Monster huffed and puffed, but Kirkie stood brave and tall.
Kirkie had an idea. 'If you share the light, you won't be alone anymore. Everyone will want to be your friend!' The Shadow Monster stopped and thought. 'Really? I just wanted friends all along.'
The Shadow Monster smiled and handed the moon's glow back to Kirkie. Together, they flew through the sky, returning the beautiful light to the moon. The night became bright and magical once again.
Back in his room, Kirkie waved goodbye to his new friends - the kind moon and the no-longer-scary Shadow Monster. Now, whenever Kirkie looks at the moon at night, it gives him an extra special twinkle, just for him.
